This year marks 100 years since the birth greatest Romanian, Maria Tanase. On this occasion, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin marked the moment by organizing a tournament dedicated to her with ethno-jazz singer Maria Raducanu.

German Unity Day celebrated at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

German Unity Day was marked with a celebration, in front of the Brandenburg Gate, in Berlin. Today marks the twenty third anniversary of the Day of German Unity, commemorating German reunification in 1990. 

Berlin protest against gold mining at Rosia Montana in Romania

A protest in Berlin took place for the fifth time to support similar demonstrations in Bucharest, against a Canadian company's plans to open Europe's largest gold mine at Rosia Montana.

The Autumn Fair of Calarasi 2013

The Autumn Fair of Calarasi, called in Romanian "Balci" is said to be the biggest from South of Romania, from Baragan. This Fair brings back memories from childhood; I used to go there with my family to buy fresh fruit or play. The Fair marks the beginning of autumn. As pictures feature, Roma craftspeople are attending it and display their products. I live very close to  the place where the fair takes place. A lot of inhabitants from Calarasi go to have a tour of the fair in the evenings, so streets of my neighbourhood are quite empty for one week.
